As an also 36 year old saddled with atrocious high-interest debt I can’t discharge in bankruptcy, I am glad you brought up debt cancellation. It’s the only hope most of those carrying student debt have. For people interested in debt cancellation, read Michael Hudson. For young people, know this: we live in a society dominated by creditors, landowners, and the financial class. Our society still believes all debt must be repaid, or else you are a scumbag. I don’t care what ANY president does, it will ALWAYS be for the financial class. They will loan you money to help you/businesses out, but make sure you pay it all back with interest. Your college probably got millions of dollars in aid because of the pandemic, what did YOU get? A terminal economy. You will weather this, but you will be another Lost Generation. The 1% don’t care, they will suck up more money from you, none will trickle down. What’s good for the banks is good for America.
