My personal belief is that authors have a difficult time writing characters who are nothing like them. It’s not just males writing females, but low social-tier males trying to write about heroes and leaders when they have been neither. Even a lot of the honorable characters are cringe. It’s also always been a complaint of mine when the main male protagonist easily scores with women and there’s literally no reason for the women to find him attractive. It’s pretty difficult to find an author/authoress who has had a ton of life experience that would aid their characters.
